One April, 2007: Dreams
Dreams.
The ones that come at night.
Sometimes the uninvited.
Sometimes flying.
We all have them.
Drop the cynic for a moment and open to this…
In the story of Mary and Joseph
as they navigated through danger and confusion,
six out of eight of their major decisions
were made by dream messages.
Last night we sat in a circle with thirty people
in a little Methodist church in Stillwater MN
we lit some candles and we talked about dreams.
We looked at them as possible guiding messages from God.
Some realized that a dream had helped them find a new direction.
Some realized they had been comforted.
Some are still thinking.
Near the end of our 90 minutes together the Spirit in the
room was palpable.
There was a newness that equaled the 10” of fresh
snow outside.
I believe in dreams we are interfacing with the angels.
A sort of deep, ongoing dialogue.
And
Whether we remember them or not
the angels remember us.
Speak to us.
Not unlike Joseph and Mary
As they moved toward
The manger.
Dreams.
The ones that come at night.
Sometimes the uninvited.
Sometimes flying.
We all have them.
