Holy
cow! Much to report!
England
was amazing. A special thanks to our friends who helped
us along the way. Stamford, Canterbury, Ashburton and Milford
on Sea. We made great connections, drove a lot, sang a lot
and fell deeply in love.
Then...
BIG NEWS!
It
was a true honor to play music on A Prairie Home Companion
on November 17th. Click
Here to listen to the show and read comments. What a
beautiful experience to see the mastery and artistry that
flows through that show... EVERY WEEK!

The
Brothers Frantzich- Martin Luther King Jr. project continues.
Songs are being written... We are making contact with people
and places from his past. Let's see where this leads. Mark
your calendar for April 4th, 2008... that is the 40th anniversary
of his death. We'll do a big concert somewhere that night.
MLK jr. was a prophet. He was a great champion of Hope.
He lived an amazing and divinely inspired ride. So couragious
were Martin and Coretta King. Much light was brought into
our lives upon their shoulders. There's an amazing 1 min
and 21 sec on YouTube. This Mountaintop speech was given
less that 24 hours before he was killed. He was standing
at the door. This is not just for African Americans... His
was/is a universal human message. A message that still shines
into our hearts and homes. Check this out: Mountaintop
Speech
DATE
NIGHT

8-15-07
Our
first ever DATE NIGHT, at the Fine Line, was sweet ... Just
the Two of us...singing the songs that put a wrench on our
hearts. The grand finale was a warm sing along..."Can't
Help Falling In Love With You"...Yes, that's the Elvis
tune from Blue Hawaii..."Wise men say...only fools
rush in..." It was perfectly sappy and that's part
of what DATE NIGHT is all about. Look for another DATE NIGHT
at the Fine Line around St. Valentine's Day. Sara Stiles
took the photo...thanks Sara!

The
Minnesota Men's Conference was a winner this year. We had
some amazing moments...I will never forget the men singing
"I'll Fly Away"...we couldn't even sing the last
verse because the chorus was so big and beautiful. When
was the last time you heard 100 men singing their hearts
out...adding harmony? You've never heard that? Well, come
next year. Visit: www.hiddenwine.com. Above is a photo of
Tim, Robert Bly, Zeb (Tim's son) and Paul. It was Zeb's
first conference...it was great to have him there.

8-24 thru 8-26 2007
We
had a great time at Omega Institute with Robert Bly and
Arlo Guthrie. The above pic is of Arlo and Alison Granucci
(www.blueflowerarts.com). Alison was the master mind behind
the workshop and was the one who asked us to come out. Highlights
were playing several songs to a nice big crowd on Saturday
night. Arlo and Robert were wonderful together. Arlo played
"Abraham" with us...took the solo...that was cool.
What a wonderful guy, full of optimism and great stories.
He's a great guitar player and sings with ragged grace.
He put one of his father's poems called "My Peace"
to music...it was lovely...a true treasure.

We're
currently reading a bit on Martin Luther King Jr. We are
investigating writing songs based on his sermons. Here's
the dream: We do a CD based on MLK's amazing sermons and
plan a cd release on the 40th anniversary of his death,
April 4th 2008. Fingers crossed!

Gotta Get This!
Neil
Douglas-Klotz
is doing translations of parts of the New Testament from
the original Aramaic. Aramaic is the language Christ spoke
as he taught. Neil Douglas-Klotz sheds new and beautiful
light on these familiar words.
example:
Beatitude #3 KJV: "Blessed are the meek: for they shall
inherit the earth"
when translated from Aramaic reads:
"Ripe is the time for those who have made soft and
supple that what is rigid within: they shall receive physical
vigor and strength from all of nature and the universe"
link
to Neil Douglas-Klotz at Amazon.com
I'm
currently into his cds called The Healing Breath
He has put the Aramaic beatitudes to music. He explains
the translations and meanings along with some historical
context and then chants the Arimaic beatitudes.

Last
night Paul and I slept in a chicken coop.

Here
we are standing tall in front of the little chicken door
at the Littlefield Bee Farm on Block Island, Rhode Island.
The foundations of the property were from the early 1700's.
Susan and Chris had cleaned it out long ago and put a couple
of beds in it.
The ocean breeze blew through. What a perfect place to sleep.
Thanks to the Block Island Poetry Project for a beautiful
day of outside music and poetry.

Whoa
yeh! We got Heart Wing done. We had just as much fun making
the cover art as we had recording. It was a bit harry as
we ran down that hill time after time. Tim really did take
off for a second! Thanks Brian Tice for your genius timing.

We're
holed up at a friends house to record. The friends have
left town and we've taken over. We're recording in their

We're
laying plans for the Great Mother Conference in early June.
This year's site is about an hour out of Portland, Maine.
This eight day event mashes religions, psychology, art,
poetry and more. It's guaranteed to blow your mind and open
your chest. This year's lectures center around Sufism. Many
great poets, much good music... including a couple shmoes
from Minneapolis, chanting dancing, food, ritual.. hmmm.
just come if you're curious.

Tomorrow
we head for NYC to visit a couple contacts (in hopes of
playing there... do you know anyone who can help?) and crash
poet Robert Bly's 80th birthday party. We're looking at
getting back to England in the summer. More travel these
days. Between now and summer we will hopefully record two
CDs. We start one now. It is a 2/3 original disc.
another
good England story from our November trip:
Our
last stop was at a little town on the southern coast called
Milford on Sea. Our friends John and Amy Taylor, who live
there, did amazing work getting the word out. We kept noticing
this amazing old church complete with it's (gravestones
angled off in all directions) churchyard. One night (pictured
below) we wandered into the churchyard with a nice bottle
of wine and toasted the seen and the unseen worlds. We were
there a day or two before we realized we were to have our
concert in that church. That was a true joy. All Saints
Church turned out to be 1000 years old. Some pillars and
arches were built by the Normans. There were weird wooden
heads carved in the ceiling of sailors lost at sea. Our
friend David Anania (drummer extraordinaire, currently with
the Blue Man Group, Berlin) met us there with his lovely
girlfrind Sabine. A bunch of people came out. The place
felt cozy. We truly had a great time. John Taylor was handy
on upright bass. The environment was surreal. Great singing
and dancing all the way around. A heart warming and golden
end to our two weeks in England.

Paul's
birthday today. Happy birthday Paul! We're still in the
afterglow of a sweet night down at the Fine Line Music Cafe
last Sunday. Our holiday show turned out just fine. Thanks
to the likes of Sister Kirsten Frantzich Allen, John Munson,
Noah Levy, Joe Savage and Jeff Victor. And there was also
a goddess on stage with us. Nirmala Rajasekar raised the
hair on my neck with her beautiful East Indian voice. We'll
definitely sing with her again. Don't miss it! Please check
her out and support her! Nirmala
Rajasekar Thanks to everyone that came down. We're thinking
of doing a Valentine's Day Love Show. Stay tuned!
ps.
All the poems at the show were from either The Gift-
Hafez translated by Daniel Ladinsky or Translations of Hafez
by Robert Bly

A few
shots and thoughts from England:
One
good story came on a night where we were looking for a room.
We walked into a pub called The Royal Oak in the sweet little
town of Ashburton at 11pm. Just the bartender and the owner
were there. We secured a room and then sat down for a pint.
As we talked the owner noticed our guitars and asked for
a song. We played a song. We finished and as the last note
rang the owner said the best thing he could say... "what
are you doing tomorrow night?" We played the next night
for room and board. stayed there three nights. This street
sign from there... can you read at the bottom?

As we
flew home we caught sight of Greenland. Holy cats what an
amazing place!

11-15-06
Whew!
We made
it back from England in two pieces. What a voyage! We played
nine shows in twelve days. Thanks to brother Martin Shaw
for his amazing drumming and overall support. Also a big
thanks to: Tom Shaw and John and Amy Taylor. We are planning
a return trip in the summer. More highlights to come.
Now
we happily turn toward our Holiday Show. This will be fun.
Our friend Nirmala Rajasekar will join us to bring the beautiful
sounds of India along with Joe Savage, Noah Levy and John
Munson and Jeff Victor.
10-23-06
Last
night we did another "Jacob's Ladder" out in Stillwater.
It's evolving. Please come if you're interested in an informal,
open format sacred time. Lots of music, poetry, chanting,
candles... gospel talent Tonia Hughes is singing like a
bird and will be back on November 19 for another round.
The scattered genius of the pulpit, Mark Horst, offers thoughts
and poems here and there.
Last
night I started believing that Jacob's Ladder is becoming
something new, progressive and righteous. Help us find this
new thing! Next month Paul will hatch a new song at Jacob's
Ladder called "You Are Beautiful and Powerful Beyond
Measure"... It's a good song. Simple. Inspired by Ann
Bancroft's work as a polar explorer and as a advocate for
following one's dreams. We all can use a little of that
kind of support. The whole evening will hinge on that theme.
Here's
a good true poem by William Stafford:
THE
WAY IT IS
There's a thread you follow. It goes among
things that change. But it doesn't change.
People wonder about what you are pursuing.
You have to explain about the thread.
But it is hard for others to see.
While you hold it you can't get lost.
Tragedies happen; people get hurt
or die; and you suffer and get old.
Nothing you do can stop time's unfolding.
You don't ever let go of the thread.
10-18-06
We're
in rehearsals for England. We leave in less than two weeks.
Some new songs. We'll come back in good shape to record.
Looking
forward to our annual Fine Line Show Holiday Show. The Sunday
after Thanksgiving.
We
bloomed in Spring.
Our bodies are the leaves of God.
The apparent seasons of life and death our eyes can suffer,
but our hearts, dear, I will just say this forthright,
they are God himself.
We will never perish unless he does.
- St Theresa of Avila (1515-1582)

Holy
Cats... we didn't write for a while because coming back
from the Men's conference was a blurry, complicated and
joyous experience. A lot of things to chew on. We talked
about Giants. The giants in ancient stories like Jack and
the Beanstalk. How this giant was, at first, invited in
to Jack's house (when Jack was an infant) by Jack's father.
Familiar, friendly... but in a vulnerable moment the giant
did away with Jack's father, stole his riches and disappeared...
This is how the story starts. Then, of course, Jack wanders
into quite a dramatic continuation. These old fairy tales
rock. there's no one moral to the story. Rich with multi-leveled
ideas and teaching. Read them around the house.
Everyone
should buy our friend Jay Leeming's poetry book : Dynamite
on a China Plate. It's great!
8-18-06
We're
encouraging you to get tickets for St Joan of Arc's annual
Cabaret. It features one song from approx. 25 performers.
Short attention span theater. We've played there for the
last 3 years and love the whole scene. It's enough to make
any devout Baptist or Jew turn into a Catholic. St Joan
is redefining "church" and the angels are helping.
It always sells out so get 'em now: St
Joan, Mpls. Tickets!

Check
out Daniel Ladinsky's "Love

John of the Cross, St Catherine of Sienna, St Theresa of

We're
laying plans for the U. K. with our friend Martin
Shaw. More Martin Shaw info below. Approx. Nov 1-12.
We're optimistically tumbling into this new place. Please
send love and prayers. We've recently made changes in our
lives so we can avail ourselves to any and all opportunities.

YOU'VE
GOTTA FREAKIN' READ: WHAT JESUS MEANT by Garry Wills.
It'll Love-bomb your previous ideas...
(and
the Yogi said, "s-t-r-e-t-c-h")
Yes,
now that brings up item #2: YOGA. It's gonna help save the
world. The idea being, if we can stretch, "dang, that
kinda hurts...hold it... relax, find center" Moving
our familiar out. Getting comfortable with what used to
be uncomfortable.. This flexability, this suppleness.. mixed
with Love... is what this old world wants .....and the people
said "AMEN!"
We suggest
Bikram Yoga. 105
degrees. Lots of sweat. 90 minutes. HAVE COURAGE!

We have
been to the well and had a good long drink... there are
many new brothers and sisters frantzich... redefining our
idea of family. If you can ever attend one of Robert Bly's
conferences... either the Great Mother in early June or
the Men's Conference in early September... do it! You'll
freak out. It's like family and home and sweet inspiration
all rolled up in a bad Jr. High Camp bunk bed. Anyways,
Paul and Tim are the better for it. Here's a picture taken
on the last evening in Maine with our hero Robert Bly.

We're
back in action on the webpage!!!
We're honored and excited to go out to Maine tomorrow for
8 days at Robert Bly's Great Mother and the New Father conference
We're
leading singing circles and playing some old hymns. This
is an amazing event. check it out at greatmotherconference.com
We've
got a million ideas for new recordings. We're working on
them this Summer.

Happy
New Year and Happy MLK day. Go listen to the song "Calcutta"
on our Harmonium CD.
We just had a grand time at Edina Community Lutheran Church...
What a cool place!
if you live in south Mpls or Edina and are church hunting
check it out. I've been thinking and collecting
on the topic of "Sophia". She is the Divine feminine
and is Wisdom. Someone said
she's mentioned in Eziekiel... she seems to be tapping me
on the shoulder, as I've heard
her name a lot lately. E-mail any ideas and info to: info@brothersf.com.

We are
doing a lot of chewing on the Fine Line Christmas show.
Remembering. Thinking.
MAN-O-Man Thanks to everyone who came out. What a perfect
evening. Thanks to Serge, Jeff, Noah and Joe. Amazing. The
high point was Blind Willie Johnson's 1930's "Jesus
won't You Make Up My Dying Bed" That rocked!Ron,
the sound guru at the Fine Line, was kind enough to make
a DVD of the show, so we'll get a song up soon.
Stay
Tuned!
10-30-05
If you
can manage next year to get to St Joan of Arc Catholic Church's
Cabaret... do it! I think tickets go on sale in August at
the church. St. Joan is totally morphing church as we've
known it. With the sensibilities of Dan Chouinad and Anna
Vagle that place rocks! We played there the last two nights
... one song from each artist... 3 hours long... this year
performers included: Peter Ostrushko, Debbie Duncan, Robert
Robinson, Mary Jane Alm, Larry Long, Bruce "Creeper"
Kurnow, Prudence Johnson, Paul Peterson, Neal and Leandra...
the list goes on and on... meet us there next year... It's
one of the best kept secrets in town.

10-25-05
It was
a sweet and dandy evening in St. Croix Falls at the Festival
Theater. Thanks to eveyone who came up. I was blown away
by the tree colors peaking out on the river. Noah, Jeff,
Joe and Serge played with us.Check out Father Thomas Keating's
work on Contemplative Prayer. He's successfully Christianized
meditation. I need some of what he's talking about... emptying
so Spirit might find some space.

We've
been playing a lot lately... Thanks St Mark's on Loring
Park, Thanks St. Joan of Arc, Thanks Wesley Methodist downtown
Mpls. Amazingly beautiful rooms! (St Joan's has an inner
beauty) Wow! the craftmanship in the old days! Stained glass,
Cherry wood, carving.carving.carving.
We turn
our eyes now toward St. Croix Falls' Festival Theater. Full
Band show. Oct 22, 8pm
All
six of us will be there.
Here's
the latest favorite poem by 14th Century Persian Hafez:
"Last

God posted on the tavern wall
A hard decree for all of love's inmates
Which read:
If your heart cannot find a joyful work
The jaws of this world
Will probably
Grab hold of your

We just
returned from the Minnesota Men's Conference. 150 gents
in the Northwoods. I was struck this time by how only a
handfull are from Minnesota. Most men are from somewhere
else...
even as far as Ireland.
I really
don't know what to write about it. Although it's not a "Christian"
event, it is spiritual in a way that I have found nowhere
else. I've had this line of Christ's rolling around in my
head... "He that cometh to me shall never hunger, he
that believes in me shall never thirst" I'm not saying
I'm complete... it just I think I ate something new this
week
I'm
no longer interested in those who state loud and clear...
"Christianity is THE way" I have eaten this "bread"
Christ refers to from the hand of other beliefs.
Malidoma Some, a West African, oversaw the spiritual
practices of the week. Michael
Meade told a Blackfeet story, worked with dreams and
mythology in the most amazing way. Doug
Von Koss truly brought us closer to eachother and the
divine through song. Robert
Bly layed down amazing poem after amazing poem... so
couragous, artistic, funny... so inspiring.
Please
go to Micheal Meade's link and order up a disc or two of
his talks. drive around and listen to it...
I bet you'll have to pull over a few times to laugh, cry,
holler or just thank.
If you've got
balls... don't miss this conference next year. Hidden

So this
is the big advertisement for the Minnesota Men's Conference.
If you're a guy and looking for something... I mean, is
your life so good that you don't want to try anything new?
Most of us are looking... even suffering. The American man
hits his mid thirties and starts to feel more and more isolated.
Most of us resign to the idea that that's just how it is.
We discovered
Robert Bly's MN Men's Conference a number of years ago.
Amazing teachers! Amazing saunas! Amazingly bad beds! Amazingly
rich week! Great for Young men 15 and up! Great for gray
hairs too! It's like a pirate ship full of guys except there's
no ship, no swords and everyone writes poetry. All beliefs
honored! It'll blow your mind and your heart! Deep, fun
and unpredictable.
Women,
send your man, he'll be a better lover for it.
Paul
and Tim are planning on it.
6 days
long. 2 hours North. Sept 13-18, Camp Miller on Sturgeon
Lake.

Paul's
therapist recently hooked him up to a state of the art brain
camera. Apparently it can actually take a picture of your
thoughts! The therapist then began to say words out loud...like
"wife" and "boss"... eventually she
said "Brothers Frantzich" and this is the picture
that was taken!

Paul
and Tim are both off and doing a bit of Summer vacationing.
Just as Paul was saying goodbye to Tim last Friday he said
something like... " let's work on some songs while
we're traveling". Tim said, "ok, how many?".
Paul said, "let's each have two new ones when we get
together next week" Tim said, "sounds good".
So this
is how it works... Tim and Paul often agree to write a new
song or two on a BrosFran imposed deadline and then they
get together and play the new little babies for each other.
Send good vibes for inspired writing!
See
you at the Harriet Bandshell August 12.

Just
in last night from an amazing event in Park City, Utah.
We played two nights of music for a generous group from
Minnesota called YPO. I (Tim) got to tag along on a balloon
ride 2000' above Utah.
On our
trip I continued to read a book by Joseph Chilton Pearce
called The Biology of Transcendence. Amazing work on the
human heart and brain and their connectedness. Really important
stuff to take in as Americans in the 21st century... especially
if you're pregnant or raising children. Please check it
out.The
Biology of Transcendence. I love the biological term
"Angel Lobe". It's a term for the most recently
developed frontal part of our brain. It sort of miraculously
appeared 40,000 years ago. It is where the human's potential
lies in relationship and spirituality... the curious thing
is in utero and during the first 21 years of life, a deep
part of us is constantly deciding between Angel Lobe growth
or the Reptilian brain (oldest part) growth. If we feel
threatened we grow (and benefit from) the non-negotiable
fight or flightReptilian brain... if we feel safe we grow
our Pre-Frontal (Angel) Lobe. This is not based on hokey
pokey new age research but on legit studies at Harvard and
the like.... anyway, get the book.
To live
a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.
Joseph Chilton Pearce
We must accept that this creative pulse within us is God's
creative pulse itself.
Joseph Chilton Pearce
May you and yours
grow your Angel Lobes!

It is
thought by many that Solstice is a time when the veil between
the seen world and the unseen world is at it's thinnest.
Here's a Rainer Maria Rilke poem in that spirit.
translated
by Robert Bly. Get
this book it's amazing!
"I
am too alone in the world, and not alone enough
to
make every minute holy.
I
am too tiny in this world, and not tiny enough
just
to lie before you like a thing,
shrewd
and secretive.
I
want my own will and I want simply to be with my will,
as
it goes toward action,
and
in the silent, sometimes hardly moving times
when
something is coming near,
I
want to be with those who know secret things
or
else alone.
I
want to be a mirror for your whole body,
and
I never want to be blind, or to be too old
to
hold up your heavy and swaying picture.
I
want to unfold.
I
don't want to stay folded anywhere,
because
where I am folded, there I am a lie.
And
I want my grasp of things
true
before you. I want to describe myself
like
a painting that I looked at
closely
for a long time,
like
a saying that I finally understood,
like
the pitcher I use everyday,
like
the face of my mother,
like
a ship
that
took me safely
through
the wildest storm of all.

What
a sweet day to play music. Fluffy clouds spotting a blue
sky. It's like we have not seen the sun in a year. Hope
the Harriet Bandshell evening is like this. Thanks Servant
of Christ Lutheran for having us in this morning. We've
been playing that old gospel song Precious Lord, Take
My Hand a lot recently... I think we've found
another hymn that rocks. We first learned it because of
a growing interest in Martin Luther King Jr. That was his
favorite hymn. The great thing about it is that it's not
about waiting for some distant peaceful heaven to come.
(there are plenty of good old songs on that theme) But it's
asking Spirit to help us stand up straight when we're tired...
Help us stay in the game. The Staple Singers have a great
version... we used theirs as a springboard into ours. Here
we are in the Church parking lot sunning ourselves.

So last
week Tim and his family were up at Robert Bly's Great Mother
Conference... eight days of poetry, compelling science and
music. Check it out some year, there is absolutely nothing
like it. Great Mother
Conference and as Long as we're waxing on about Bly's
conferences... guys, head 2 hours north in September for
the Minnesota Men's Conference.
Warning! this is not for the weak at heart. We've attanded
for the last four years... spiritual, artistic, suprising.
Please call and talk with either of us if you're interested
612-339-0366 weekdays. This is a great source of life.
We played
music at a couple of benefits recently. Amazing how those
old hymns hold a bottomless stash of gold. Pilgrim Center
Benefit (Rwanda Work) was a high point and a perfect birthday
gift for Tim. Beth Gilliland put together an amazing show
for the Domestic Abuse Project... that was grand too. Thanks
to those who attended.

What
an evening at The Fine Line! Again the dream band showed
up...Noah Levy, John Munson, Joe Savage and Jeff Victor.
We had a couple special guests. Tonia "I'll Take You
There!" Hughes was amazing... and dancers and poet
Laura and Michael were beautiful. Thanks to the Fine Line
and anyone who came out! Our buddy Steve snapped this picture
of the evening... at this point Paul was talking and Tim
was standing in silent support.

May
Day proved to be chok full of newnwss. We played at Excelsior
Covenant for the 1st annual "American Gospel Music
Festival". Joe rocked and the good Scott Malchow sat
in on bass. We shared the service with Tonia Hughes, an
amazing gospel talent... by the second service we combined
on a few songs and a new good thing happened. This may mark
the beginning of working more with Tonia, it was such a
comfortable fit... and a new sound. Thanks to Steve Pitts
and the crew at Excelsior Covenant for dreaming up and sponsoring
the event.

Wow!
What a fun and deep time that Fine Line Show was! What a
pleasure to make music with those gentlemen... and what
a warm breeze there was blowing around the room! Paul was
standing on his own two feet and even shaking his bottom
a bit. His leg is healing well. Thanks all who were at the
show and also to those that came to the after party. We're
thinking about songs for another Hymns disc... e-mail ideas.
Think traditionally and broadly... from "Abide with
Me" to "I Shall Be Released"

Finished
the new Harmonium CD a month ago just in time for our show
that never happened because... Little brother Paul broke
his leg in the ugliest way! Hospital for 4 days, 2 surgeries...
BOOM! Now he's all screwed together and singing like a bird...
Looking forward to the Fine Line on the Sunday after Thanksgiving...
nice long weekend... by Sunday you'll be itchin' for something
to do.
We
recently played at sweet little Lake Jenny Covenant Church
in Dassel, MN. evening concert...Man were the Northern Lights
amazing... Tim, Paul and Joe (pedal steel guru) just stood
in the little graveyard outside the church with our chins
pointing up.
